One thing I always have difficulty with is trying to come up with new and exciting date ideas for the hubs and I. I really hate doing the same thing over and over again, so I strive to keep things in our relationship as fun and interesting as I possibly can! In case any of you are struggling with ideas for a fun Valentine’s Day date, never fear! I have come up with the ultimate list of date ideas ranging from casual day dates to romantic nights out on the town.

Date Idea #1: Create a cozy, romantic living room fort to curl up in with your honey and watch your favorite romantic movie together. Oh, and don’t forget to order takeout!! Who has time to make supper AND build the ultimate adult living room fort? Not me! The hubs and I did this recently and had an absolute blast. We made a quick trip to Home Depot to purchase the PVC pipes and fittings and then headed back home to put it all together. We rounded up all of our comfiest pillows and blankets and ordered takeout from our favorite neighborhood sushi restaurant. Our idea of a romantic movie is ALWAYS something outer space-based. I’m not kidding. We love outer space movies, so we watched “First Man” with Ryan Gosling.

Date Idea #2: Book yourselves an Airbnb in a nearby city for the weekend and celebrate with the ultimate staycation! If you happen to live close to the mountains or the beach, I would recommend booking a spot near there! But if not, booking a cute little home with some amazing amenities (like an outdoor hot-tub or an indoor fireplace) could also make for a super fun date night! Sometimes it’s just fun to stay somewhere that’s not your own home, ya know?? I’d suggest bringing your own groceries with you to make a yummy dinner together and, of course, no date night would be complete without a bottle of wine.

Date Idea #3: Go out for a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner at a fancy restaurant in your city. And whatever you do, don’t forget to order some dessert. I mean, after all, it is Valentine’s Day.

Date Idea #4: If you’re lucky enough to live somewhere warm, pack a picnic lunch (or dinner) and head to a scenic spot to have a romantic outdoor meal together. Even better, if you live near the beach, head there for a bonfire and picnic at sunset. (That’s a total bucket list date night idea for me, btw!) Oh, and don’t forget the champagne and chocolates!

Date Idea #5: Head to a rooftop bar with an amazing view and equally amazing cocktails. Go there around sunset to watch the gorgeous colors fade to a starry-filled sky. If you live somewhere cold, like I do, try and find a rooftop bar with fire-pits (and, preferably, blankets to cozy up with!)

Date Idea #6: If you’re having trouble picking just one restaurant for your Valentine’s Day date night, why not choose your top three favorites and visit them all! Go to one restaurant for pre-dinner cocktails and appetizers, go to another for your main entree meal, and visit the third one for dessert!

The Cooper Lounge (inside of Union Station) in Denver – it has amazing cocktails!

Date Idea #7: Take a hot air balloon ride! After all, Valentine’s Day is a holiday, right? I say, go big or go home!

Date Idea #8: Go ice-skating with your significant other and hold hands. Afterwards, be sure to find a cute, little coffee shop to cozy up in and warm each other up!

Date Idea #9: Hire a professional photographer (or simply ask a family member or friend) to take photos of you and your valentine. This will be a memory that the two of you will be able to keep and look back on forever.

Date Idea #10: Try a new activity together! I’ve always wanted to try indoor skydiving and I think attending a cooking class with the hubs would be so much fun, too! However, if you’re looking for a fun, low-cost activity, hiking (or snowshoeing if it’s cold where you live) would also be a blast! Bring along a bottle of champagne to pop when you make it to your destination!

Date Idea #11: Spend the day visiting all of your favorite places in your hometown/city. Start the morning at your favorite neighborhood coffee shop or breakfast spot. Next, continue on to your favorite chocolate or candy store for some delicious sweet treats (remember, it is Valentine’s Day). If sugar really isn’t your thing, then stop by your local florist to pick up a beautiful bouquet of roses. For lunch, eat at your favorite restaurant and end the day with finding the best view in your city for taking in the sunset. How romantic.

Date Idea #12: If you’re looking for more of a low-key date night, then simply spend a romantic evening at home with your sweetie. Sometimes the simplest things can be the most meaningful. Make dinner together and prepare the mood by lighting a few candles and turning on some romantic music. After dinner, cuddle up on the couch and read your valentine’s day cards aloud to one another. I’ve found that reading your heartfelt words out loud to your loved one can make for an extra special, romantic moment. And that’s all I’ve got!! I hope you guys will find this post and my date ideas useful! As for my husband and I, we will be spending this Valentine’s Day in the Bahamas. We got married on February 11th, 2017, so this trip will be doubling as our two-year wedding anniversary celebration! I fully intend to splurge on breakfast in bed and mid-day massages. I’ll be wishing you all an equally wonderful day celebrating the greatest gift of all time, LOVE!

XOXO,
